Policy Statement and Objectives

The objective of this Health and Safety Policy is to prevent injuries, ill health, property damage and environmental harm arising from our gardening activities. We aim to:

Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for health and safety within Gardeners Hillingdon rests with the company management. Management will allocate sufficient resources, set clear expectations and lead by example to promote a positive safety culture.

Supervisors and team leaders are responsible for implementing this policy on site, including planning tasks safely, conducting checks on equipment, monitoring work practices and addressing any unsafe behaviour or conditions.

All employees, whether permanent, temporary or seasonal, have a duty to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions. They must follow instructions, use equipment correctly, wear required personal protective equipment and promptly report hazards, incidents or near misses.

Contractors working on behalf of Gardeners Hillingdon are expected to meet our health and safety standards and cooperate with our procedures while on site.

Risk Assessment and Safe Working Practices

We carry out suitable and proportionate risk assessments for our gardening and grounds maintenance activities. Incident Reporting and Emergency Arrangements

All accidents, injuries, near misses and dangerous occurrences must be reported to management as soon as practicable so that they can be recorded, investigated and, where necessary, acted upon to prevent recurrence.

Our teams are briefed on emergency procedures, including dealing with injuries, contacting emergency services, responding to fire and ensuring safe evacuation from the work area. Suitable first aid provision is maintained and accessible during work activities.
